Fine Tiffany & Co Sterling Silver 5pc San Lorenzo Carving Set

Presented is a wonderful Tiffany  & Co 5 piece sterling silver carving set. This set is done in the elegant San Lorenzo pattern, which began production in 1916. This is an attractive pattern with a very Art Deco look. Each piece is monogrammed on the handle with JAN in overlapping lettering which almost looks like an abstract design rather than initials. The knives have carbon steel blades, with a razor sharp edge. The forks have stainless steel tines, with the fold-out stopper mechanism at the back.

The set consists of:

•     1 large carving knife--14 1/4 inches long.
•     1 smaller carving knife--11 1/2 inches long.
•     1 large carving fork--11 1/4 inches long.
•     1 carving fork--10 inches long.
•     1 sharpening steel--13 1/2 inches long.

Each piece is stamped on the side of the handle beneath the collar with the Tiffany & Co. maker's mark, sterling and the initial 'M' for the company director between 1907-1947, John C. Moore II. The blades of the two knifes are marked Tiffany & Co. The tines of the two forks are marked 'stainless.'

This set is in great overall condition. There are some surface abrasions and dings to the handles here and there, nothing of any significance in our opinion. The second largest knife has a minor dent to its handle. There are no splits, no breaks, no monogram removals, and no repairs. Please note, the blades of the knives are carbon steel and will darken naturally with use. These pieces are not dishwasher safe, and should be washed, dried, and stored relatively quickly after use for best results.
