Presented is a fine set of 4 Durgin sterling silver ice cream forks or sporks. These forks are made in the Empire pattern, which began production in 1895. As the name suggests, this is an ornate, regal pattern with a crown design on the ends of the handles. The bowls/tines have a gold wash. Each handle has a monogram of MW in flowing script. These pieces are essentially sporks, like spoons with three short broad tines, suited for early ice cream which tended to be frozen much more solid than is typical today. Great for a wide variety of desserts. Please be advised, we have more of these forks available for purchase. If you wish to purchase additional Empire ice cream forks, please let us know.

This set is in great condition. The details of the design are nice and crisp. The gold wash of the bowls is in great shape. There are no breaks, no monogram removals, and no repairs.

Each fork is stamped with the Durgin maker's mark as well as sterling, patent, and the retail mark for Bigelow, Kennard & Co.

Each fork is about 5 5/8 inches long.

The total weight for the set is 98 grams or 3.5 regular ounces. -jm
