Presented is a very fine quality American coin silver serving spoon in the Strawberry pattern made by the Durgin silver company. I believe this pattern was first made in the 1860s and this piece was certainly made in the 1860s or 1870s. The pattern is incredibly crisp on this server. It looks like it has never been used. Even the strawberry and leaf decoration on the reverse is in pristine condition. The interior of the bowl is beautifully hand engraved. Everything is as crisp as the day it was made. This is a small serving spoon, good for jam/preserves or sugar or berries. Whatever you like. The spoon is monogrammed on the front with the letter N in old English or Gothic style.
The reverse of the spoon is marked Wm B Durgin and Patent. Tested and guaranteed to be at least coin silver.
The condition is excellent. There are no breaks and no repairs and no monogram removals.
The length is 7 inches.
The weight is 42 grams or 1.47 ounces.
