Fine c1870-1900 Victorian English Silverplate Teapot Nice Engraving
Regular price
$173.00
Presented is a fine old English silverplate teapot, dating to circa 1870-1900. This beautiful Victorian piece is made in a handsome, classical tapered form, with C scroll handle and a mostly straight spout, with just a slight curve to the end. The lid has a well done invisible style hinge. Both sides of the pot are finely hand engraved with a shield shaped cartouche, neither of which has any monogram or inscription. The pot has a capacity of about 2 1/2 cups, or 20 fluid ounces/590 milliliters.
This piece is in great overall condition. There is a silver pin in the top of the handle where it joins the body, which is either a repair or reinforcement, but the handle is tight to the body and feels very sound. There is some wear to the engraving, but it is overall fairly crisp and much more visible than the first photo makes it seem. There is no significant wear through the silver plating. There are no splits, no dents, no leaks, no monogram removals, and no other repairs.
The teapot measures about 8 inches from handle to spout and stands about 6 1/4 inches tall at the highest point of the handle. -jm
