Fine Art Deco Style Sterling Silver Mappin & Webb Compote Pedestal Bowl 9.75"
Regular price
$1,728.00
Presented is a fabulous, solid sterling silver bowl of good weight made by Mappin & Webb in 1947. This piece has a very Art Deco look and was most likely designed by a high end designer, perhaps A. E. Harvey or K. Murray. The flat, threaded rim has five engraved and cast designs around the edge. The bowl is rather shallow and raised on a pedestal base.
The underside is marked with the crown for Sheffield, the lion passant for sterling silver, a date letter E for the year 1947 and is also marked Mappin & Webb London & Sheffield.
This piece is in excellent condition. There are no dents, no breaks, no splits, no monograms, no monogram removals and no repairs.
The bowl measures 9 3/4 inches in diameter, is 2 1/8 inches tall and weighs 481 grams or 17 ounces.
