Fine Art Deco French Seed Pearl & Onyx Multi-Strand Pearl Bracelet w/ 18k Clasp
Presented is a superb quality French seed pearl and onyx multi-strand
bracelet, with decorative onyx and 18 karat gold clasp. This piece dates to
around the 1920s, and is done very much in the Art Deco style of that time. The
bracelet consists of ten individual strands of tiny seed pearls, with
contrasting black onyx beads at intervals along the bracelet's length. The
pearls are real, natural seed pearls, and looking closely at the piece, despite
their small size, the pearls are individually knotted for security. The clasp is
done in the form of a large black onyx bead, with a white gold interior, which
the tongue of the clasp snaps into securely. The bracelet can be worn with the
strands elegantly twisted into a torsade design, or untwisted for a looser, more
free flowing style. This is a wonderfully well made and attractive piece.
This bracelet is in great condition. The clasp functions well and closes
securely. There are no breaks and no repairs.
The tongue of the clasp is stamped with the French eagle's head mark for 18
karat gold, as well as a maker's mark we unfortunately cannot make out, as
only part of it made it onto the tongue. The other side of the tongue of the
clasp is marked 'depose.'
The bracelet is about 6 3/4 inches long, not including the tongue of the
clasp, which does not contribute to the overall length when worn.
