Presented is a charming antique La Pierre sterling silver vesta case or match safe, dating to circa 1906. The case is quite well made, with very finely engraved foliate scrollwork decoration on the front surrounding a cartouche with the date 1906. The opposite side is plain, except for a monogram of WAS in flowing script. The underside of the case has a match strike with nice clean and deep grooves, which works quite well.
This piece is in great overall condition. There are some minor dents here and there, most visibly to the top side of the lid and along one side edge, but please let the photos guide your judgment. There are no splits, no monogram removals, and no repairs.
This piece is stamped on the lip with the maker's mark for La Pierre, a division of International Silver Co, as well as sterling.
The case measures about 2 1/2 by 1 7/8 inches.
