FINE 18th CENTURY GERMAN SILVER LADLE w/ WOOD HANDLE
Regular price
$238.00
Presented is very fine quality old silver ladle. This ladle has a very long wooden handle. The ladle has two hallmarks on the underside of the bowl.
I believe this piece is German, but the hallmarks are not very clear and I cannot guarantee the country of origin. It is certainly continental European. The long zigzag mark is the assay test. This piece was probably made in the mid to late 1700s but could certainly be from the early 1800s. The interior of the bowl has a gold wash which is completely intact.
The overall condition is excellent. There may have been a repair where the handle attaches to the bowl, but it is very difficult to tell. If a repair was done it was well executed. The wood handle is slightly loose but still very secure. The bowl has a few minor dings and some surface scratches. Otherwise there are no other dents, no breaks, no repairs, no monograms, no monogram removals and no other problems.
The length is 15 inches. The maximum width of the bowl is 3 3/4 inches.
