Presented is a wonderful antique Scottish Georgian sterling silver stuffing, platter, or serving spoon, dated 1813. This spoon is made in a classic Georgian style, with a downward curved handle and a pip to the back of the terminal. The spoon is finely engraved on the front of the terminal with a monogram of R in flowing script.
This spoon is in excellent condition. There are no splits, no dents, no breaks, no monogram removals, and no repairs.
This piece is hallmarked with the Scottish thistle for sterling silver, the city mark for Edinburgh, the date letter h for 1813, the duty stamp of King George III's head, and the maker's mark JF, possibly IF.
The spoon measures about 12 1/8 inches long.
The spoon weighs 100.1 grams or 3.5 regular ounces. -jm
