Fine 1783 English Georgian Sterling Silver Stuffing Platter Serving Spoon 11.5"
Presented is a fine old English Georgian sterling silver stuffing or platter spoon. This piece was made in 1783, probably by Samuel Wintle. The spoon is done in a classical long handled form, with a distinctive downward turn to the end of the handle. There is a nicely engraved crest of a goat or deer's head on the end of the handle.
This piece is in great condition. There are no splits, no breaks, no dents, no monogram removals, and no repairs.
This piece is hallmarked on the stem with the lion passant for sterling silver, the leopard's head crowned for the city of London, the date letter h for 1783, and a maker's mark of SW, probably for Samuel Wintle.
The spoon is about 11 1/2 inches long.
This piece weighs 83.8 grams or 3.0 regular ounces.
