Presented is a fine silver inkwell and sander with tray. This piece dates to around 1750-1830. We do not know the exact country of origin, but it is almost certainly European. The tray is ornately hand-chased around the rim with designs of swirled leaves and flowers. The inkwell and sander each sit inside a raised border in the middle of the tray.
The tray has some dents and dings. The rim of the tray has some splits to the part that curls under, not visible from the top. The inkwell has a repair, visible as a small mark on the outside of the base and a larger patch on the inside, as is pointed out in the photos. The sander has a repair on the widest part of the body. There are no other issues.
This piece is hallmarked in the center of the tray with what looks like 'G. Dauman' (maybe C instead of G) and a stamp we do not recognize.
The tray is approximately 11 x 8 1/8 inches. The sander is approximately 2 7/8 inches tall. The inkwell is approximately 4 1/8.
This piece weighs 337 grams or 11.8 regular ounces.
