Regular price
$225.00
Presented is a charming little antique Dutch silver pierced ladle, likely for serving berries or perhaps sifting sugar. This piece dates to the first half of the 1800s. The bowl of the ladle is done in a wide oval form, pierced with classical openwork decoration to allow it to serve as a sifter or strainer. The handle is made in an elegant arched design terminating in a figural finial in the form of a putti dancing on a foliate scroll or perhaps wave.
The stem of the piece is stamped with a Dutch tax hallmark of a fish, with a maker's mark stamped above the bowl. This piece is nitric acid tested and guaranteed at least 833 purity silver.
This piece is in excellent condition. The details of the designs are nice and crisp. There are no splits, no dents, no breaks, no monograms, no monogram removals, and no repairs.
This piece measures about 5 1/2 inches long.
The ladle weighs 33 grams. -jm
