Presented is a wonderful American Brilliant Period cut glass lidded compote or pedestal bowl, perfect for a candy dish. This piece dates to circa 1900-1925, and was made by Sinclaire, a very well known and respected name in American Brilliant cut glass. The basin of the bowl is beautifully cut and frosted with a design of stylized flowers of two different types, alternating in height, forming a continuous band around the side. This band of decoration is repeated around the lid, which has a round finial at the top. The stem is done in an elegant controlled bubble design, terminating in a round foot with a rayed star cut into the underside.
This piece is in excellent condition. There are no chips, no cracks, no breaks, and no repairs. This piece is signed on the underside of the foot with the Sinclaire maker's mark.
The compote stands about 8 inches tall to the finial of the lid, or about 6 1/8 inches to the rim of the bowl, and measures about 6 inches in diameter. -jm
