Presented is a wonderful pair of old Sheffield fused silverplate urns, dating to circa 1780-1820. The urns are a good large size, what might be called 'chestnut urns' though of course you can use them however you like. The urns are made in a classical form, with four ball form feet and swinging Beckett style handles gripped in the mouths of lions.
The urns are in great overall condition. As the ninth photo points out, there is a small divot on the upper side of the base of one urn. There are a few other minor dings to the bodies of the urns, which are hard to notice without careful inspection. The silver plating is in great shape overall, though there are two little lines of wear through on the narrowest portion above the base, on one urn. The 'collar' or triple reeded band around the narrowest portion on the other urn has some wear. There are no splits, no monograms, no monogram removals, and no repairs.
Each urn stands about 10 1/8 inches tall at the tip of the finial of the lid, and measures about by 7 ½ inches from handle to handle (with the handles down).
The total weight for the pair is 2084 grams, or 4.6 pounds. -jm
