Presented is a stunning antique silver double sided snuffbox. This piece dates
to the mid 1700s, around 1730-1750. This is a continental European piece, likely
French but possibly Dutch. The box is intricately hand chased with sumptuous
Rococo style decoration consisting of flowers and scrolls. The box is divided
into two compartments, hinged in the middle. Very fine heavy weight piece.
This piece is not stamped or hallmarked that we can find, but we have tested
it with nitric acid and guarantee it to be at least 800 purity silver.
This piece is in excellent condition. There are no splits, no dents, no
breaks, no monograms, no monogram removals, and no repairs.
The box measures about 4 3/8 by 1 ½ by 1 5/8 inches, LxWxH.
The box weighs 228 grams or 8.0 regular ounces.
