Exquisite 14k Gold Giovanni APA Pastorale Courting Scene Cameo Brooch Pendant
Presented is a stunning 14 karat yellow gold cameo brooch or pendant. This piece
was made in Italy in around the 1950s. The cameo is beautifully carved in very
high relief and depicts a courting scene, with a young man offering his lady
flowers as they both sit beneath a tree. The carving is after an 18th century
painting by French artist Francois Boucher, titled “Pastorale.” The quality of
the carving is exceptional, with a great degree of detail to the tree, grass,
and the courting couple themselves. The cameo is set in a 14 karat yellow gold
frame done in an almost faceted design so it catches the light appealingly. This
piece has a rollover style safety clasp as well as a retractable bail, so it can
be worn as either a brooch or a pendant.
