Exceptional Victorian 10k Yellow Gold Carved Three Color Greco-Roman Cameo Ring

Presented is a fantastic American Victorian 10k gold carved hardstone cameo ring. This ring dates to around the 1870s-1880s. The ring is set with a rectangular piece of carnelian or similar orange agate stone, with a raised bust of two Greco-Roman figures, one in black, one in white. The setting is simple and stylish, with a crown-like design on the shoulders. The cameo is very well carved, with a lot of fine detail.

The ring is in good overall condition. There is a crack to the cameo, in the upper left corner, please view the second photo to see it closely. The stone is still securely set and mounted. The setting itself appears to have been repaired on one side, visible in the third photo, where the points of the crown-like shoulder meet the setting.

The ring is not stamped or hallmarked but we have tested it with nitric acid and guarantee it to be 10 karat gold.

The ring is a size 7.

The ring weighs 6.1 grams. The head of the ring measures about 19.6 x14.7 millimeters LxW. The band is about 4.5 millimeters wide.
