Excellent Set 11 Antique Austrian 800 Silver Handle Luncheon Knives 8 5/8"
Regular price
$557.00
Presented is a set of 11 antique Austrian silver handle luncheon knives. These knives date to circa 1886-1922, though the blades are a little more modern, likely redone in the 1930s-1940s. The handles are done in a sleek, stylish pattern with a little button design on the tips, while the blades are made in the New French form, from "Rostfrei" (rust-free) stainless steel. These are well constructed, high quality silver handle knives, and would be a very impressive addition to any table setting.
The knives are stamped with the Austrian hallmark of Diana's head guaranteeing at least 800 purity silver, while the blades are marked Rostfrei, except for one which is marked for J.A. Henckels Solingen Zwillingswerk, as well as 'nicht rostend' or non-rusting. The handles have a maker's mark of HS or SH.
The knives are in great overall condition. Three knife handles are missing the button to the ends, as you can see in the first photo and more closely in the seventh photo. One of these three has a small ding on one side of the handle. None of the other knives have any losses or damages beyond minor surface wear commensurate with age and use. There are no splits, no monograms, no monogram removals, and no repairs.
Dimensions: 8 5/8 inches.
Weight: 685 grams or 24.16 regular ounces. Considering the stainless blades and filled handles, not all of this weight is silver.
