Presented is a lovely antique Tiffany & Co sterling silver nail buffer, with its original tray. This piece dates to around the 1920s. Both the rim of the tray and the top side of the buffer are lavishly engraved with foliate scrollwork, very crisp and well done with lots of hand detail work. The tray is heavy for its size, made from thick silver. The handle of the buffer has a monogram of EN in fancy interwoven script, with the same monogram done smaller on the rim of the tray, so both pieces are 100% original.
This piece is in excellent condition. There is some wear to the buffer material, as you can see in the photos, but only what you'd expect for a piece that is around a hundred years old. The silver has no splits, no dents, no breaks, no monograms, and no repairs.
Both pieces are stamped with the Tiffany & Co maker's mark, sterling, and the initial 'm' for the director of the company between 1907-1947, John C. Moore II.
The tray measures about 6 5/8 x 2 1/2 inches. The height with the buffer on the tray is 1 1/2 inches.
This piece weighs 140 grams or 4.9 ounces total. A very tiny portion of this weight is in the buffer material, the rest is sterling silver. -jm
