Excellent c1894 Sterling Silver ABP Cut Glass Liquor Flask w Cup Base
Regular price
$419.00
Presented is a very charming antique American Brilliant Period cut glass and sterling silver liquor flask, dating to circa 1894. The body of the flask is cut glass with fantastic quality cut decoration, while the lower body is a sterling silver sleeve that doubles as a drinking cup, with a gold washed interior so liquor will not pit or corrode the silver. The silver portion has an engraved monogram of WB in flowing script. The flask has a liquid capacity of about 4 ounces or 118 milliliters, while the cup portion will comfortably hold about 3 ounces or 89 milliliters.
This flask is in excellent overall condition. The glass is in great shape, with no serious chips, no cracks, no breaks, and no repairs, just a fleabite here and there as you'd expect, but nothing significant or easy to notice. The attached cap functions well and screws on tightly, and the flask does not leak.
The sterling silver bottom/cup has a couple of small dents to one end (one of the narrower “sides”) near the base, which are hard to notice. The silver has no splits, no dents, no monogram removals, and no repairs.
The silver portion is stamped with the maker's mark for Davis & Galt, as well as sterling.
The flask measures about 6 by 3 by 1 ¼ inches, LxWxD.
The weight of just the sterling silver bottom portion/cup is 63 grams or 2.2 regular ounces. -jm
