Presented is a wonderful little American coin silver spoon, dating to the late 1700s and very likely made by renowned Boston silversmith, William Homes (sometimes Holmes) Jr. The spoon is a small teaspoon or coffee spoon size, and made in a lovely pattern with hand engraved decoration surrounding a cartouche. The cartouche has an old marriage style monogram of I over MW.

The spoon is in great condition, particularly for its age. There are no splits, no dents, no monogram removals, and no repairs.

The spoon is stamped with a maker's mark of WH, very likely for Boston silversmith William Homes Jr, who worked from 1742-1825 and whose work is collected at the globally known Colonial Williamsburg 'living history' museum today. This spoon is nitric acid tested and guaranteed coin (900) purity silver.

This spoon weighs 12.7 grams and measures about 5 5/8 inches long. -jm
