Presented is a wonderful antique English Georgian sterling silver large punch or soup serving ladle, dated 1766. This ladle is made in an elegant 'Feather Edge' pattern, featuring finely hand engraved fluted detailing around the edges of the handle. The ladle has a round bowl of a large generous size, which is likewise decorated with a ruffled, fluted edge. The terminal of the handle has a monogram of RMT in flowing script on the front.
This ladle is in excellent condition, particularly considering its age. There are no splits, no dents, no breaks, no monogram removals, and no repairs.
This piece is hallmarked with the lion passant for sterling silver, the leopard's head crowned for the city of London, the date letter L for 1766, and the maker's mark for John Lampfert.
The ladle measures about 12 3/4 inches long.
