Elegant 14k Yellow Gold Carved Hardstone Cameo Pendant Necklace

Presented is a lovely carved hardstone agate cameo pendant in 14 karat gold, with a modern 14 karat gold chain. The pendant's date is hard to calculate. The gold setting that the cameo is in is certainly modern from the past 40 years, but it is quite possible that the stone cameo is significantly older. Many of the old settings were delicate and were damaged and the cameos were reset. 

The cameo is done in agate, with a frosted white layer above an orange-red level. The cameo depicts a classical Roman style profile, wearing a laurel wreath. The carving is detailed and well done. The 14 karat gold setting in which the cameo is mounted is sleek and high quality.

The pendant is in great overall condition. There are a couple of very tiny fleabites here and there around the edge, but nothing noticeable without very close inspection under good lighting. The details of the carving itself are nice and crisp. The chain is in great shape.

The final link of the chain is stamped 14k as well as A Co. The pendant is not stamped or hallmarks, but we
have tested it with nitric acid and guarantee it to be 14 karat gold.

The hardstone agate cameo is not glass. When we look at the couple of flea bites they have the conchoidal fracture with dull to waxy fracture luster that rules out glass. We guarantee this to be agate and not glass. 

The chain is about 16 inches long. The pendant is about one inch long from the top of the bail/loop to the bottom of the pendant and measures about 5/8 of an inch from side to side.

The necklace weighs 5.5 grams.
