Early 1900s Artisan Austrian 14k Yellow Gold Diamond Leaf and Fly Pin Brooch
Regular price
$1,640.00
Presented is a wonderful antique Austrian 14 karat yellow gold, diamond and ruby pin or brooch, dating to around the first quarter of the 1900s. The pin is done in the form of a large and realistic leaf, with a fly perched near the stem. The leaf is done in matte finish gold with high finish detailing for the veins of the individual leaflets and 8 old rose cut diamonds on the stem, which has a white gold top so the diamonds really sparkle. The fly is done in yellow, rose, and white gold, with 10 more rose cut diamonds covering the wings, and two little rubies for eyes.
The quality of the construction on this piece is exceptional, the fly is held to the leaf with a gold nut on the back that can be unscrewed, it was made separately with a great degree of skill and attention to detail. The clasp is also a very well constructed thing, it has a little knob at the end that you pull outward, towards the tip of the leaf, to allow the pin shaft to swing outward, it is very secure.
The pin is stamped on the shaft with an Austrian hallmark guaranteeing 14 karat gold, I believe the P is for the city of Pest.
This piece is in excellent condition. The diamonds are all intact. The clasp functions well and closes securely.
The pin measures about 2 1/4 by 1 1/2 an inches.
This pin weighs 14 grams. -jm
