Presented is a gorgeous antique 10 karat yellow gold and seed pearl cameo pin or brooch. This pin dates to the early 1900s, and was likely made in America. The cameo is beautifully carved, showing a young woman with wavy hair in a fancy updo, carved in high relief, white against delicate pink. The frame is done in a ribbon twist form, with real natural seed pearls wire strung and wrapped around between the loops. The pin has a lever catch style clasp as well as a retractable bail, so it can be worn as a pin or as a pendant.
This piece is in excellent overall condition. The pearls are all intact, or at least there are no gaps I can see. The clasp works well and closes securely. There is a line in the cameo, starting at about the 7 o'clock position, but this line doesn't go all the way to any other edge of the piece, nor is it visible from the opposing side of the shell.
This pin is not stamped or hallmarked, but we have tested it with nitric acid and guarantee it to be 10 karat gold.
The pin measures about 1 1/2 inches by 1 1/8 inches.
