Distinctive Antique Swedish Sverige 830 Silver and Enamel Souvenir Spoon
Regular price
$84.00
Presented is a very fine quality Swedish .830 silver souvenir spoon. This spoon features a Swede in traditional costume in the bowl, in vivid colorful enamel. The terminal of the handle has a nicely detailed pierced crown and acanthus-framed Swedish national emblem, the three crowns on a field of blue. The slender handle of this spoon is my favorite aspect. Examine the photos closely to appreciate the beautifully sculpted and cast rosettes, scrolls and flourishes, densely placed and in high relief on both front and back. This is a well made piece, and a great gift for any traveler or spoon collector.
The spoon is in very good condition. The details of the designs are nice and crisp. The enamel has a few losses, most noticeable as a chip on the right side of the bowl, and along the very top of the blue enamel. The word "Sverige" (Sweden) shows a bit of loss at each end. There are no breaks and no repairs. The spoon is hallmarked on the back in the crown finial, indicating that it was produced in Norway in the early 1900's and then imported into Sweden. There is an inscription there also, which reads "Till Liesel 21/10/13" (translates in English to "To Elizabeth 10/21/1913"). The spoon is about 5 1/2 inches long.
