Presented is a lovely American Brilliant Period cut glass bowl or dish, dating to around the 1890s. This piece is unsigned, like many ABP pieces, but the high quality of the work suggests a high end, well known maker like Hawkes, Tuthill, Dorflinger, or the like. The bowl is beautifully and intricately cut with hobstars, fans, and panels of fine diamond-point decoration. The rim is done in a scalloped and toothed form, relatively shallow but suitable for a fruit bowl or small centerpiece, or simply for display, however you like.
This piece is in great overall condition. The teeth have some fretting/fleabites here and there but no teeth are missing their tips or otherwise seriously chipped, nothing noticeable without close, careful inspection in good light. There are some very minor chips or grazes to high points of the decoration around the exterior/underside, but again nothing that is noticeable without close, careful inspection. No serious chips, no cracks, no repairs, no sickness or clouding to the glass.
The dish measures about 9 inches in diameter and stands about 2 inches tall at the rim. -jm
