Presented is a lovely American Brilliant Period cut glass water pitcher with four matching cups. This piece is unsigned, like many ABP pieces, but the high quality of the work suggests a high end, well known maker like Hawkes, Tuthill, Dorflinger, or the like. The pitcher is beautifully and intricately cut hob stars, which form the flowers at the ends of finely intaglio cut stems and leaves, all against a lattice or quilted cut background. The cups are likewise cut with matching decoration, making this a very fetching set. The pitcher will hold about 4.5 cups (1.06 liters/36 fluid ounces) when filled to a reasonable level, though of course it will depend on how much ice you add. The cups hold about 6 fluid ounces, or 177 milliliters.

This set is in excellent overall condition. There is some shelf wear to the underside of the pitcher, as you'd expect. One of the cups has a small bruise to the side of the foot, which is hard to notice without close, careful inspection. There are no chips, no cracks, no breaks, and no repairs. No sickness or clouding to the glass.

We are including with this set two additional matching cups, both of which have rim chips which could be professionally ground down. We are including the cups as a free gift because they came to us with the set, but they do not reflect on the value/price of the set.

The pitcher stands about 9 1/2 inches tall at the highest point, and measures about 7 3/4 inches from handle to spout, or about 5 1/2 inches across the body.
The cups stand about 3 3/4 inches tall at the rim and measure about 2 7/8 inches in diameter at the mouth. -jm
