Presented is a wonderful American Brilliant period cut glass bowl or dish. This piece is unsigned, as is fairly typical for American Brilliant period glass, but the quality of the glass and decoration suggest a high end maker like Hawkes, Tuthill, Dorflinger, or the like. The dish is square in form with an elegant outwardly flared rim. The sides are beautifully cut with a diamond point design, while the rim is done in a scalloped shape made up of fan cuts. The quality is exceptional, and the cuts catch the light dazzlingly.
This piece is in excellent overall condition. There are some minor fleabites to a couple of the teeth of the rim here and there, and the most minor fretting to the two of the exterior corners/vertices, but nothing of any significance in our opinion. Absolutely nothing that stands out without very close, careful inspection in good light. No significant chips, no cracks, no breaks, no sickness or discoloration, and no repairs.
The dish measures about 12 1/2 inches square, and about 3 1/4 inches tall at the highest point of the rim. -jm
