Presented is a vintage Steiff Original Teddybear, with poseable limbs and swiveling head. This bear was made in Germany and dates to around the 1960s-1980s. The bear is a medium brown and has a red ribbon around its neck. The nose is darker brown rather than black, and if you look closely the eyes have brown irises, which I think is a nice sign of quality over solid black. The bear's little feet and hands (paws?) are a lighter brown, with a more velvet texture. I believe the fur might be mohair and the color called 'cocoa.' Really a classic little bear, whatever the case.
This bear is in good overall condition. The limbs move well and the fur is in good shape. There is maybe a little wear to the face, around the nose, but this might just be how the bear is. The bear still has some of its original tags intact, one reading Steiff, and Knopf Im Ohr (Button in ear). There is another tag reading the same as well as “Original Teddybar.” There is not, however, a button with tag in the ear.
Sitting, the bear is about 7 1/2 inches tall. With legs outstretched, the bear is about 9 1/2 inches long. -jm
