Presented is fantastic quality set of 8 Deruta Italy pottery plates, dating to around the 1950s-1960s. These hand made and hand decorated plates feature a very lively and colorful design of stylized birds and sea serpents or dragons all surrounding a central fleur-de-lis motif. I believe this is a variant of the Raffaellesco pattern, it certainly matches in style and usage of heraldic beasts as decoration. The plates have a gadrooned shaped edge and yellow rims, which really makes them stand out.
This set is in excellent condition. There are no chips, no cracks, no breaks, and no repairs.
These plates are signed Deruta Italy on the reverse, in black.
