Presented is a charming set of antique Spode bone china demitasse cups and saucers. This set has eight straight sided demitasse cups and nine saucers, with one 8 inch serving or dessert plate as well. The set is beautifully decorated with various songbirds perched on leafy branches, some with flowers or berries. No two birds are the same, and all are identified on the underside of the cup or saucer. All the decoration is in black, while the porcelain itself is white with fine gold gilt rims. Each piece is signed Spode, bone china, England, as well as the name of the bird depicted.

This set of cups and saucers is in good overall condition. Of the nine saucers, one has two small rim chips, visible in the sixth photograph. One has a small flake to the rim. One has a hairline visible near a leaf in the decoration. The rest of the saucers, including the larger serving plate, are in excellent condition with no problems. Of the eight cups, one has a chip to the rim with a hairline extending inward, visible in the ninth photograph. One has a spider hairline center interior, visible eighth photograph. One has a small chip to the foot rim exterior, visible in the seventh photograph. The rest of the cups are in excellent condition.

Each cup measures about 2 3/8 inches in diameter and stands about 2 1/2 inches tall at the rim.
The saucers measure about 4 7/8 inches in diameter.
The single larger plate measures about 8 inches in diameter. -jm
