Presented is a charming 14 karat gold and ruby butterfly pin or brooch. This piece dates to around the 1960s-1970s and is likely of American make. The pin is done in a stylized butterfly form, with a Florentine finish on the middle sections of the wings and a contrasting textured finish on the rims of the wings. The butterfly's body is set with four little round cut rubies, with a larger ruby for the head and a smaller ruby at the tip of each antenna. The pin has a rollover style safety clasp.
This piece is stamped 14k on the back.
This piece is in great condition. The rubies are securely set. The clasp functions well and closes securely. There are no breaks and no repairs.
The pin measures about 1 3/8 inches across the wings and about 1 1/2 from top to bottom.
The pin weighs 10.4 grams.
