Presented is a very charming Japanese porcelain teapot, dating to circa 1900-1920. The lower portion of the teapot is beautifully decorated with heavy impasto enamel decoration in white and green in the form of stylized flowers, against a light buff background. The upper portion is decorated with classical blue and white glaze foliate and scroll decoration. The teapot has a capacity of about 4 cups, or 32 fluid ounces/0.94 liters.
This teapot is in excellent overall condition. There is a little bit of flaking to the glaze at the tip of the spout, which is very hard to notice even close up, unless you run your finger over it to feel the texture. There are no other flakes or chips, no cracks, no breaks, and no repairs.
The teapot measures about 7 3/4 inches from spout to handle and stands about 5 inches tall. -jm
