Charming 14k Gold Pearl Aventurine Cicada Beetle Insect Pin / Brooch
Regular price
$554.40
Presented is a charming 14 karat gold, pearl and aventurine pin or brooch in the form of a beetle. This piece dates to around the 1960s and was likely made for high end retail in Hong Kong. The bug's abdomen is made from an oval cabochon of aventurine, a lovely mottled green stone that looks very similar to jade. The bug's thorax is a round pearl, and its eyes are made from two round faceted rubies. The bug has two sets of wings, one with a bright gold finish and one with a brushed finish. The pin has a rollover style safety clasp.
The pin is in great condition. The aventurine has a very tiny chip at about the 7 o'clock position (assuming the bug is head up) which is very hard to notice. The clasp functions well and closes securely.
The pin is stamped and guaranteed 14k.
The pin is about 1 1/4 inches long.
The pin weighs 7.3 grams.
