Presented is a wonderful pair of antique American sterling silver serving or ice tongs. These tongs were made by Wallace in the Putnam pattern, which began production in 1912. This pattern, under the same name, was also made by Watson, though with a later start in production. The tongs are made in an elegant openwork design, with one pierced spoon-style grabbing end and the other done in the form of a leaf.
This piece is in excellent condition. There are no splits, no dents, no monograms, no monogram removals, and no repairs.
The tongs are stamped with the maker's mark for Wallace as well as sterling.
These tongs measure about 6 1/2 inches long.
The tongs weigh 87 grams, or 3.1 regular ounces. -jm
