Presented is an antique “Orphelinat des Armees” (Orphans of the Army) charity medal from World War I, designed by Rene Lalique. The medal depicts a seated woman in clinging, draped clothing embracing two orphans. The medal is brass, on a short length of ribbon in the colors of the French flag.
This medal is in great overall condition. Some surface wear, fairly even patina. The ribbon could easily be replaced.
The medal is stamped R. Lalique in the lower left corner.
The medal itself is about 1 1/4 inches square.
The total length with the ribbon is about 5 1/8 inches. -jm
