Presented is a stunning Russian silver and copper overlay wine ewer or pitcher. This piece dates to around 1915-1917. The ewer is done in a gorgeous Art Nouveau style very typical of the time to which it dates, featuring a flowing design of lotus flowers, leaves, and lily pads in rich copper. The silver of the ewer itself has a lovely subtle brushed finish, contrasting with the rich copper overlay beautifully. The ewer is done in a tall, tapered lighthouse form, with a tankard-style lid and thumbpiece. Can be used as a coffee pot, wine ewer, or even just a water pitcher, however you like.

This piece is in great condition. There are no splits, no breaks, no dents, no monograms, no monogram removals, and no repairs.

The underside of the lid as well as the underside of the pitcher are stamped with the Russian kokoshnik mark for the city of Moscow, as used between 1908-1926, guaranteeing a silver purity of 84 zolotnik, or 875/1000. There is also the Russian 1st Artel mark, used circa 1915-1917, and a small round hallmark of a woman's head facing left.

The pitcher stands about 13 inches tall. The pitcher weighs 1096.5 grams or 38.7 regular ounces. -jm
