Presented is a wonderfully hand carved, natural shell cameo set in a 14 karat white gold mounting made around 1910-1930. The cameo was carved in Italy and the mounting was made in America. The large cameo is delicately carved into the profile of a pretty woman with roses in her wavy hair. The cameo is done in high relief and is very detailed. The 14 karat gold mounting is done in a fabulous filigree form and has separately cast and applied little florettes along the border. The back of the mounting has a hinged bale or loop for hanging the piece as a pendant if so desired. The clasp has a locking mechanism for added security.
The clasp is marked 14k.
This piece is in excellent overall condition. There are some small stress lines at the top of the cameo but these are natural to the shell, they do not go through to the other side and they will not spread. There are no flaws and no repairs.

The cameo measures 2 by 1 1/2 inches and weighs 13.8 grams, we believe approximately half of the weight is gold weight.
