Presented is a wonderful antique cut glass, sterling silver, and enamel dresser jar, dating to around the 1910s-1920s. The glass is superb quality, beautifully cut and frosted with floral decoration. The lid is decorated on the top face with lovely blue guilloche enamel, translucent to display the intricate machine turned and engraved designs in the silver underneath. The center of the lid's decoration is a nicely detailed standing figure of a young woman, beneath an urn of flowers and surrounded by bellflower borders and floral swags. The lid itself is solid sterling silver and certainly one of the heaviest silver lids we have ever seen, exceptionally sturdy and well made. There is a monogram of MSP on the side of the lid, but this is easy to miss since the top face of the lid overhangs so much. The lid is stamped sterling as well as a maker's mark.
This piece is in excellent condition. The glass has no chips, no cracks, no breaks, and no repairs, just minor shelf wear to the underside, as you'd expect. The sterling silver lid has no dents, no splits, no monogram removals, and no damage to the enamel.
The total weight for the piece is 31.3 ounces or 886 grams.
The weight of just the lid, which is sterling silver, is 223 grams or 7.9 ounces.
