Presented is an old, 10 karat yellow gold and hand carved shell cameo brooch/pin or pendant from the late 1800s or very early 1900s. The solid gold mounting is engraved with pretty leaf designs. The bezel set cameo is carved into the form of a lovely young woman. There is a hinged bale or loop on the top to hang the piece as a pendant. The clasp has a safety latch for added security.
The clasp is marked 10K. The frame has been tested and is guaranteed to be 10k gold.
This piece is in great overall condition. There is a minor chip to the shell at the upper left hand corner that has been filled in, but this is hardly noticeable unless you are inspecting the piece closely. There are no other flaws.
The pin measures 1 3/8 by 1 7/8 inches and weighs 8 grams.
