c1900 Lovely 18k Gold Diamond & Green Tourmaline Teardrop Pin / Pendant Brooch
Presented is a lovely 18 karat gold, diamond and tourmaline pin or pendant. This piece dates to around 1880-1910, and is likely of American make. The pin is done as an oval with a green tourmaline dangling in the center. The tourmaline is cut in a long pear or teardrop shape, with a diamond set in the 'stem' at the top. The tourmaline is a real, mined-from-the-ground stone, with rich green color, beautifully cut to maximize its depth and clarity. The pin has an old C style clasp as well as a bail at the top so it can be worn as a pendant.
This piece is in great overall condition. The clasp functions well and closes securely. The tourmaline has some minor surface abrasion, but has no chips and no cracks.
This piece is not stamped or hallmarked, but we have tested it with nitric acid and guarantee it to be 18 karat gold with a platinum front.
The pin is about 1 1/4 by 7/8 of an inch, including the loop/bail at the top.
This piece weighs 3.4 grams.
