Presented is a fabulous German silver 40 piece fish set. This set was made by Bruckmann & Sons and dates to the late 1800s or early 1900s. The set consists of 18 fish forks, 18 fish knives, a large fish serving fork and fish serving knife, a sauce ladle, and a serving spoon. The forks and knives are all silver, both the blades/bodies and the handles, which do not have any weighting or filling. The handles have a lovely design of flowers and foliate scrollwork against a crisp matte finish. The bodies of the forks and the blades of the knives are beautifully hand engraved with intricate decoration in the form of classic Rococo scrolls and detailed floral designs. The bowls of the spoon and the ladle have a rich gold wash. Each piece has a monogram of E in decorative script on the front of the handle.

The set consists of:

  • 18 fish forks: 7 1/2 inches long.
  • 18 fish knives: 8 1/4 inches long.
  • 1 fish serving fork: 9 1/4 inches long.
  • 1 fish serving knife: 10 3/4  inches long.
  • 1 serving spoon: 7 1/2 inches long.
  • 1 serving ladle: 7 1/8 inches long.

This set is in excellent condition. The details of the engraved designs and the finish are nice and crisp. These items do not look like they have seen any use. There are no splits, no breaks, no dents, no cracks, no monogram removals, and no repairs.

Each piece, except the smaller knives, is stamped with the German crescent and crown with 800 for the purity of the silver, as well as the maker's mark for Bruckmann & Sons. The knives are not marked but are clearly original to the set.

The total weight for the set is 2201 grams or 77.6 regular ounces. All of this weight is silver, with no weighting or filling.
