c1900-1925 Fine Italian 14k Gold Floral Pietra Dura Seed Pearl Pin / Brooch
Presented is a beautiful 14 karat gold pietra dura pin or brooch. This piece dates to around the first quarter of the 1900s. The pietra dura stonework is of Italian make, while the frame is American. The face of the brooch features a lovely design of colorful red, pink and orange flowers, with green stems and leaves, all done in vibrant stone inlay against a black stone background. The degree of realism and detail achieved using tiny pieces of stone is simply amazing. The gold frame is adorned with tiny natural seed pearls around the side, with an applied gold floral decoration at each of the cardinal points. The brooch has a lever style safety clasp.
This piece is in great condition. There are no chips or losses to the stone inlay. The clasp functions well and closes securely. There are no breaks and no repairs.
The safety catch of the pin is stamped 14k. We have tested the frame with nitric acid and guarantee it to be 14 karat gold.
The pin measures about 1 1/2 inches in diameter.
This piece weighs 11.3 grams.
