Presented is an antique American sterling silver serving, platter, or stuffing spoon made by Whiting Co. This spoon dates to around the 1870s-1890s. The piece is wonderfully decorated on the handle with little bouquets of roses and scrollwork, nicely detailed and well done. Even the bowl is highly decorated, with more floral designs at the top and vertical fluting along the inside. The front of the handle is monogrammed with A.H.R. The back of the shaft has a little button/knob so the spoon can rest securely on the edge of a pan without slipping in.
This piece is stamped sterling as well as the maker's mark for Whiting Co, though the marks are a little worn. The spoon is in overall excellent condition, but some minor scratches are present in the bowl.
