Presented is a fabulous quality Gorham sterling silver serving spoon. This spoon dates to 1865-1885 and is done in the American Aesthetic Movement style of that time period. The bowl of the spoon is done in a leaf form and has a textured, gold washed finish. The bowl of the spoon is finely hand chased to depict the veining of the leaf, with cast and applied vines, leaves, and berries. These applied decorations are quite detailed and realistic. The handle is beautifully hand engraved. The handle is monogrammed with T in Gothic script.
This piece is in great condition. The details of the designs are nice and crisp. The gold wash is in great shape. There are no splits, no breaks, no dents, no monogram removals, and no repairs.
The spoon is hallmarked with the maker's mark for Gorham as well as sterling.
The spoon is about 9 1/2 inches long.
The spoon weighs 65.2 grams or 2.3 regular ounces.
