c1860s Lovely Italian 14k Gold Floral Pietra Dura Pin / Brooch

Presented is a beautiful 14 karat gold pietra dura pin or brooch. This piece dates to around the 1850s-1870s, and both the stonework and the gold frame are of Italian make. The face of the brooch features a lovely design of a white flower and bud, with green stems and leaves, all done in vibrant stone inlay against a black stone background. The degree of realism and detail achieved using tiny pieces of stone is simply amazing. The gold frame is very well made, with a decorative openwork design to the sides. The brooch has a modern rollover style safety clasp, which is a replacement.

This piece is in great condition. There are no chips or losses to the stone inlay. The clasp is a modern replacement. The clasp functions well and closes securely. There are no breaks and no repairs.

The pin is stamped 14k on the safety catch of the clasp, and we have tested the frame itself with nitric acid and guarantee the frame to be 14 karat gold. The stem/pin shaft is not gold.

The pin measures about 1 1/2 inches in diameter.

This piece weighs 14.8 grams.
