Regular price
$1,576.80
Presented is a fabulous, Victorian 14 karat yellow gold brooch or pin made during the mid to late 1800s. This piece is American or Italian in origin. The top has a bale or loop for hanging the piece as a pendant. This piece is classical Etruscan Revival style, and certainly dates from the 1850s thru the 1870s. The back of the locket has a glass covered panel that has a lock of weaved hair as part of a memorial, which was typical during the 18th and 19th century. The body of the brooch has wonderful granulated/twisted wire decorations and the center is set with a natural pearl that is surrounded by a nice enameled star design. Hanging from the pin are finely linked gold tassels. Everything is original, except the pin back and perhaps the clasp, which have been replaced.
This piece has been tested with nitric acid and is guaranteed to be 14 karat gold purity.
This piece is in excellent overall condition. One of the small hanging tassels on the far right has some dents. There are no missing pieces, no other dents, no breaks, no splits and no repairs.
The pin measures 1 7/8 inches wide, is 2 5/8 inches long and weighs 16 grams.
