Presented is an eye-catching Victorian gold brooch/pendant. This piece is probably of Italian make, and dates to around the 1850s-1870s. The brooch is done in three interlocked circles with a dome in the center, for a sort of stylized flower design. Each of the circles and the dome have a gold rope edge. The brooch is adorned with beautifully done applied gold wirework. This is a very ornate and intricately done piece, done in the Etruscan revival or maybe even Renaissance revival style. The back of the piece has a small glass window that can presumably removed so that you can use your own portrait/small photo. The piece has a pin clasp with safety mechanism as well as a swiveling retractable bail, so it can be worn either as a brooch or a pendant.
This piece is in good condition. A bit of the rope edge on the center dome is missing, but this is hard to notice. There is solder on the back where a swiveling bail was added. The pin back and clasp are replacements.
This piece has been nitric acid tested and is guaranteed 14 karat gold.
The brooch is approximately 1 5/8 inches in diameter.
This piece weighs 19.1 grams.
