Presented is a fine set of 8 American coin silver breakfast knives. These knives were made by Hall, Hewson & Brower, and date to circa 1850. The knives have blunt style blades, all one piece with the handles. The handles have an oval cartouche on each side, enclosed by scroll designs. Each handle is engraved in one cartouche with the name Caroline in script.
This piece is in great condition. There are no splits, no breaks, no dents, no monogram removals, and no repairs.
Each knife is stamped with the maker's mark for Hall, Hewson & Brower of Albany, NY, who were active circa 1847-1850.
Each knife is about 7 7/8 inches long.
The total weight for the set is 351 grams or 12.4 regular ounces. All of the weight, including the blades, is coin silver. -jm
